Switzerland's Mountain Ice Lost 2.2 Trillion Litres in Three Months
Switzerland’s mountain ice lost about 2.2 trillion litres of water from July to September 2026, researchers from GLAMOS and SCNAT reported. That is more than four times what Swiss homes drink in a year. Ice grew 2.5 to 4 metres thinner on average, and up to 10 metres thinner at the lower edges where glaciers end.
