Swiss Glaciers Lost 2.2 Trillion Litres in Three Months
Swiss glaciers lost about 2.2 trillion litres of water between July and September 2026, researchers from GLAMOS and SCNAT reported. That equals more than four times the annual drinking water consumption of Swiss households. Mean ice thickness fell 2.5 to 4 metres, with losses up to 10 metres at glacier tongues.
