Swiss Glaciers Lost 2.2 Trillion Litres From July to September

Swiss glaciers lost about 2.2 trillion litres of water from July to September 2026, researchers from GLAMOS and SCNAT reported. That is more than four times what Swiss households drink in a year. Average ice thickness fell 2.5 to 4 metres, with up to 10 metres lost at glacier tongues, the lower ends.
