US publishers find reprints, meaning repeat press runs, harder to arrange and on-sale dates, meaning release days, harder to hold in autumn 2026. Publishers point to new US tariffs on Canadian paper, higher fuel prices and the planned 29 October closure of Coral Graphics' New York plant. Manufacturers report elevated demand for autumn, Book Manufacturers' Institute director Matt Baehr said.
