NYC Makes Canceling Subscriptions as Easy as Signing Up

New York City requires companies to make canceling a subscription as easy as signing up, under a rule that started October 1, 2026. The Department of Consumer and Worker Protection enforces it across the city. It is the first local rule after a federal version was struck down. The city estimates residents will save $21.5 million to $162.5 million yearly.
