5.34% is what the US government now pays to borrow for 10 years, Reuters reported Oct. 1, 2026, the most since 2002. Like a price tag on a decade-long loan, it helps set your mortgage and business loan rates. I expect that price to stay high unless rising prices cool or more investors buy bonds.
