US 10-year Treasury yield hits 5.34%, highest since 2002

10-year US Treasury yield rose to 5.34% on Oct. 1, 2026, the highest since 2002, Reuters reported. The yield is the annual return for lending to the US government for a decade and anchors mortgages and business loans. I see higher long-term borrowing costs persisting unless inflation cools or demand for bonds returns.
