Greens pick David Shoebridge as new leader
NSW senator David Shoebridge — one of the Greens' people in federal parliament — is the party's new boss. The Greens MPs and senators voted Wednesday: Sarah Hanson-Young dropped out first with two votes, then Shoebridge beat Mehreen Faruqi seven to four. He replaces Larissa Waters, who quit for health reasons, with Steph Hodgins-May as second-in-charge. That's blunt maths.
