Top Court Lets Tennessee Go Ahead With Tonight's Execution

Tennessee can execute Christa Pike, 50, by lethal injection before midnight after the U.S. Supreme Court late Sept. 30 canceled a 2-1 delay from the 6th Circuit. The delay would have let judges check whether childhood sexual abuse was considered in setting her punishment. It gave no reason; three liberal judges disagreed. Officials plan it Wednesday night.
