National promises passport-free travel test with Australia for 2028

National says if re-elected in 2026 it will work with Australia to test travel without passports across the Tasman for New Zealanders and Australians. Tourism spokesperson Louise Upston said people would use phones and a face or fingerprint scan instead of a paper passport for the 2028 Men's T20 World Cup. Biosecurity checks on food and bags would stay.
