U.S. borrowing cost tops 5.27%, highest in 19 years
5.27% is what it costs the U.S. Treasury to borrow for its main 10-year loan, topping that on Sept. 29, Reuters reported, the highest in 19 years. It is up almost half a percentage point through September. I see this as the number to watch for savers and borrowers, because it tends to push up mortgage and other loan rates.
