Row over promise to protect pension rises

Union leader Sharon Graham said Prime Minister Andy Burnham plans to end the triple lock, the yearly rise promise for the state pension, to pay for social care. She said taking security from people on about £12,500 a year was "morally wrong". Labour deputy leader Lucy Powell said the party still backs it, as in its 2024 election pledges.
