Labour says it will keep raising state pension each year

The BBC reported on 29 September 2026 that Labour deputy leader Lucy Powell said the party will keep the pension triple lock. It is a promise, like a guaranteed yearly increase, that the state pension goes up each year. The BBC reported Powell, Labour's second-in-command, was elected to the role in November 2025.
