Big Coastal Storm Knocks Out Power for 88,000 in Northeast

More than 88,000 homes and businesses across the Northeast had no electricity Saturday afternoon, Sept. 26, 2026, down from 119,000 earlier that day. A nor'easter, a large coastal storm with powerful winds, flooded low areas and roads in New Jersey. Forecasters expect strong winds, high ocean water and heavy rain for days, so blackouts and flooding may continue.
