The Pilot Who Landed a Plane on the River Is Honored

Chesley 'Sully' Sullenberger, 75, joined the U.S. National Aviation Hall of Fame, the national honor for great pilots, at its September 2026 ceremony in Washington, D.C., appearing by video. On 15 January 2009, after birds flew into US Airways Flight 1549 and stopped both engines, he landed it in the Hudson River. All 155 aboard survived.
