Fall's first coastal storm hit New England on Sept. 25, 2026, hitting coastal Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Long Island. Forecasters said up to 40 million could feel it, with 40-60 mph coastal winds and up to 8 inches of rain in southeastern Massachusetts. The National Weather Service warned of ocean flooding onto land, worn-away beaches and power cuts.
