First Fall Nor'easter Batters New England, 40 Million at Risk

First fall nor'easter, an East Coast storm, battered New England on Sept. 25, 2026, lashing coastal Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Long Island. Forecasters said up to 40 million could be affected, with 40-60 mph coastal winds and up to 8 inches of rain in southeastern Massachusetts. The National Weather Service warned of coastal flooding, erosion and power outages.
