Italy limits how many non-Italian children can be in one class

Italy’s top ministers limited classes to 30% pupils who are not Italian citizens on 24 September 2026. Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Italy’s leader, had announced the idea on 20 September. Officials say it is for children who do not speak enough Italian. With 930,000 such pupils nationally, most change will be in the northwest where numbers are highest.
