Many renters missing meals or heat, food banks say

Trussell, which runs food banks, estimates 62 in 100 private renters with housing help went without food or heating in the past six months, unable to afford them. The help, called Local Housing Allowance, caps payments for people on Universal Credit. Closing the rent gap would help, but cost public money.
