England's £233 Million Green Farming Fund Closed in Hours

England's second 2026 Sustainable Farming Incentive fund, paying farmers to protect nature, soil and the environment, closed at 3:48pm on 22 September 2026, under six hours after opening at 10am. The farm department, Defra, said the £233 million pot was fully claimed, triggering its set rule to close. It replaces payments farmers once got from the EU.
