England's £233m SFI Farm Fund Closed in Under Six Hours

England's second 2026 Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) window closed at 15:48 on 22 September 2026, less than six hours after its 10am opening. Defra, the farm department, said the £233m budget was fully allocated, triggering its automatic closure rule. SFI pays farmers for nature, soil and environmental work, replacing former EU subsidies.
