Smiths shares drop 5.9% after trimming sales forecast

Smiths Group shares dropped 5.9%, the worst in the FTSE 100 group of Britain's biggest listed companies, after it lowered its outlook for the year. It expects like-for-like sales, ignoring deals and currency moves, to grow 3-4%, keeping about 20p profit per £1 of sales. Slower sales leave less profit to feed pensions and index funds that hold it.
