Smiths Group down 5.9% to lead FTSE 100 fallers on softer outlook
Smiths Group fell 5.9%, the steepest fall in the FTSE 100, after giving a softer full-year outlook. It guides to 3-4% organic revenue growth — underlying sales stripping out deals and currency — with operating margin, or profit per pound of sales, around 20%. Slower sales mean less profit to fund returns for savers in pensions or index funds.
