Nepal mourns over 1,380 dead after glacier collapses into river

Nepal held a national day of mourning on 7 September 2026 for at least 1,380 people killed when a wall of ice broke off a glacier and crashed into a river on 26 August. Over 5,500 people are still missing. Rescue teams from four countries are searching 12 power stations along the river.
