Vanguard to Buy Online Investing Platform Altruist for $4 Billion

Vanguard agreed to buy Altruist, an online investing platform, for $4 billion (WSJ). Vanguard, owned by its customers and known for low costs, rarely buys other companies. The deal adds tools that help financial advisors manage client money, following Vanguard's purchase of tax-software maker Just Invest.
