Massive Wildfire Near Reno Forces Thousands From Their Homes

A wildfire called the Hawk fire started near Reno, Nevada on August 22. It was caused by people, not nature. About 42,000 residents have had to leave their homes, and 45,000 more were told to get ready to leave — that's almost a quarter of everyone in Washoe County. Firefighters have not stopped the fire at all. It has burned 13,000 acres. The governor declared a state of emergency, and six people are injured.
