Underfunded Florida Candidate Wins Senate Primary Election
Florida state Rep. Angie Nixon won the August 18, 2026 Democratic primary for U.S. Senate. A primary is a party's internal vote to pick its candidate. Nixon raised just $975,000 to her opponent Alexander Vindman's $16.3 million. Vindman was known for his role in Trump's impeachment. Nixon now faces Republican appointee Ashley Moody in November for the remaining two years of Marco Rubio's Senate seat.
