Florida's Nixon Wins Senate Primary Despite 16-to-1 Fundraising Gap

Florida state Rep. Angie Nixon, a Democratic Socialists of America member, won the August 18, 2026 Democratic U.S. Senate primary. She defeated Alexander Vindman — known for his role in Trump's impeachment — despite raising $975,000 to his $16.3 million through July. Nixon now faces Republican appointee Ashley Moody in November for the remaining two years of Marco Rubio's Senate term.
