Farage wins a seat in Parliament for the first time

Nigel Farage has won a seat in the UK Parliament for the first time, the BBC confirmed. He took the Clacton by-election — a local vote to choose one MP — on 13 August 2026, with 21,225 votes. The Conservative candidate, Giles Watling, came second with 12,820. Farage had tried and failed to enter Parliament several times before. His majority was about 8,000.
