Government watchdog says WA's GST deal was a $60 billion mistake

Australia's top economics watchdog says a deal that gave Western Australia a bigger slice of GST revenue failed almost entirely and made the system less fair. It cost taxpayers nearly $23 billion so far — forecast was $5 billion — and could hit $60 billion by 2029-30. Only WA gained. The watchdog wants it scrapped.
