
National would make completing Year 11 compulsory if re-elected
National would require students to stay at school until they finish Year 11 if re-elected, education spokesperson Erica Stanford said on 10 October. Students can currently leave at 16, often during Year 11. Under the plan they would complete Year 11 English, maths and science, with exemptions for work or training.
