Isaias Forces Gulf Oil Shutdowns, Threatens 14% of U.S. Refining Capacity
Hurricane Isaias forced widespread Gulf shutdowns and evacuations, putting nearly all U.S. offshore oil output in its path. About 2.7 million barrels per day, or 14% of U.S. refining capacity, lies in or near the path, CNN reported Oct. 8. The Hurricane Center on Oct. 9 forecast landfall tonight or early Saturday. Expect gasoline-price pressure if outages linger.
