Australian regulator says Home Affairs breaching safety law in detention network
Australia's safety regulator Comcare says it has reasonable belief Home Affairs is contravening section 19 of work health and safety law across the onshore detention network. It cites rising violent and drug-related incidents, including 18 August Melbourne brawl hospitalising six detainees. Canberra has penalised operator Management and Training Corporation, which runs centres via Secure Journeys.
