France may issue more short-term debt, finance minister says

French Finance Minister Roland Lescure said France is considering issuing more shorter-term debt, telling the Wall Street Journal in an interview published Oct. 7 that France would be strategic in issuing new debt. Shorter debt must be refinanced sooner. I read this as easing market pressure, not reducing what France owes.
