France may borrow for shorter periods, minister says

France may borrow money that it pays back sooner, Finance Minister Roland Lescure told the Wall Street Journal in an interview published Oct. 7, saying France would be strategic about new borrowing. Like choosing a short loan that renews faster. In my view, that eases market pressure, it does not shrink what France owes.
