OpenAI to watermark ChatGPT text in EU with textGrain system

OpenAI announced Oct. 5 it will watermark ChatGPT and Codex text output for EU users across all plans over the coming weeks. The invisible, machine-readable system, called textGrain, biases sampling-time word choice to enable machine detection. OpenAI is not making watermarking a global default.
