OpenAI to watermark EU ChatGPT output with textGrain

OpenAI said Oct. 5 it will watermark ChatGPT and Codex output for EU users on all plans in the coming weeks. The system, called textGrain, invisibly steers word choice during generation so software can detect AI-written text. OpenAI said it will not make watermarking a global default.
