U.S. Waives Sanctions to Allow Iran-Najaf Flights

Iraq can resume flights between Iran and Najaf, the Shi'ite holy city, after the United States granted a sanctions exemption, reported Oct. 3. A U.S. Treasury waiver — permission to bypass Iran penalties — would let Iraqi Airways fly the route. Iraq's transport ministry said the airline was preparing to restart Iran flights in October.
