California Legalizes 1,200W Plug-In Balcony Solar From Jan. 1, 2027

California will permit plug-in balcony solar up to 1,200W from Jan. 1, 2027 under the Plug and Play Solar Act signed Sept. 30 by Gov. Gavin Newsom. Authored by Sen. Scott Wiener, the law requires UL or equivalent certification and places California alongside nine other states allowing the category.
