Kyiv Independent says it won't hide Russian gains or Ukrainian corruption to please readers

Kyiv Independent editor Olga Rudenko told The Guardian in an interview published Oct. 1, 2026 that the outlet cannot afford to marginalize Russian military successes or reduce reporting on Ukrainian corruption to please its audience. It is not Ukrainian propaganda, not affiliated with government and not Ukraine's PR service, she said.
