
Britain's Energy Price Cap Hits Three-Year High of £1,723
Great Britain’s energy price cap rose 4% on 1 October 2026 to £1,723 a year for a typical gas-and-electricity home, its highest in three years. Set every three months by regulator Ofgem, the rise adds £60 a year, or £5 a month. Chancellor John Healey faces pressure for household support in the 28 October budget.
