Replit switched its AI coding agent from Temporal to Restate. Restate durably persists every LLM call, tool execution, and routing decision, enabling agents that survive crashes and recover automatically. Restate supports updating long-running agents via immutable deployments and pinned executions. Berlin-based Restate was co-founded in 2022 by Stephen Ewen.
