Russian September strikes halt Ukraine's primary steel production

Russian ballistic missiles struck four major Ukrainian steelmakers in September, halting primary steel production nationwide. The attacks were part of a campaign starting in August that hit all metallurgical plants, according to Metinvest's Oleksandr Myronenko. Before 2022, metallurgy and mining supplied about 10% of GDP and a third of exports; Myronenko says that share is probably close to zero.
