Russian Missiles Halt Ukraine's Primary Steel Production

Ukraine stopped making new steel nationwide after Russian fast ballistic missiles hit four major steelmakers in September. Metinvest executive Oleksandr Myronenko says the attacks are part of a campaign since August against all steel plants. Before 2022, mining and metals provided about 10% of GDP, total output, and a third of exports; he says that share is now near zero.
