Burnham says Labour will pledge voting system change at next election

Prime Minister Andy Burnham said Labour will contest the next general election, due by 2029, on a pledge to change the first-past-the-post voting system. He said a national commission would examine alternatives and invited other parties to join. He gave no chair or timetable. Deputy leader Lucy Powell said some in Labour oppose change.
