Australia conceded it enacted its under-16 social media ban before scientific consensus on mental-health harms, in High Court defence to Reddit's challenge. Canberra says credible risks of addictive behaviour, anxiety and depression justify action. Reddit argues the ban burdens implied freedom of political communication. Joint hearings are expected before end of 2026.
