Russian nuclear-capable Tu-95MS bomber crashes in Far East, six crew killed

Six of seven crew died when a Russian Tu-95MS strategic bomber — a long-range aircraft able to carry and launch nuclear weapons — crashed minutes after takeoff on a training flight in Amur region in Russia's Far East on 29 Sept 2026. One was hospitalised. Russia's Defence Ministry said it carried no ammunition and fell in an uninhabited area.
