Ethiopian Army and Allies Capture Alamata, Advance Toward Mekelle

The Tigray Peace Force said Sept. 29, 2026 it captured Alamata with Ethiopia's national army. Reuters verified video of Ethiopian-flagged soldiers in the town, 120km south of Mekelle. Alamata is a supply hub for fuel, food and troops near the Amhara border. A military source told Al Jazeera forces are advancing to surround Mekelle.
