U.S. Ban on Canadian Alcohol, Dairy and Motorcycles Takes Effect

U.S. ban on Canadian alcohol, dairy products and motorcycles took effect 29 September 2026. The prohibition, announced 8 September, covers nearly C$1bn in liquor, with 93% of Canadian liquor exports sold to the U.S. in 2025, plus whey and cheese and about 5,000 motorcycles. Prime Minister Mark Carney said impact on Canada's economy will be modest.
