U.S. 30-year Treasury yield hits highest since 2004
The U.S. 30-year Treasury yield rose to its highest since 2004, Reuters reported Sept. 24. Yield is the return lenders demand to hold government debt. Strong U.S. data and weak demand at a debt auction pushed yields up. I'd watch mortgage rates and borrowing costs — they tend to follow the long bond higher.
